All started at McKinsey, where Stefan realized he cared more about people than perfect slides. That sparked a career in L&D, leading international teams in scale-ups, and consultancies for over 10 years. He proudly upholds a strict no-sports policy—making him a clear outlier in the Orange Elephant team.
Why Orange Elephant?
Our name, Orange Elephant, is inspired by a fundamental question that has driven our career in learning ever since: how do humans change their behavior - and how can we help?
This question is central to our leadership training approach, which is influenced by Jonathan Haidt's metaphor of the Elephant and the Rider. Imagine a rider perched atop an elephant. The rider represents the rational mind - analytical, planning, and future-thinking. The elephant, on the other hand, symbolizes the emotional self - powerful, instinctive, and often resistant to the rider's direction.
Our training programs, which are based on monthly live sessions, are meticulously designed to cater to both the elephant and the rider within each leader. By including the analytical and emotional sides, we help leaders integrate strategic thinking with emotional intelligence, essential for continuous learning and growth; and thus to really change their behavior.
The 'Orange' in our name reflects the vibrancy, energy, and happiness we infuse into our training. It represents the dynamic and transformative journey we offer, characterized by a warm, positive learning environment.
And lastly, elephants are awesome animals! These majestic creatures are not just a part of our name; they are a symbol of what we stand for: Firstly, their incredible memory, symbolizing the lasting impact of learning. Secondly, their strong social bonds, mirroring the importance of teamwork and communication in leadership. And thirdly, their problem-solving intelligence, a trait every leader aspires to hone.
